“Workout on the Go” with Susan Frenzel

In 2000, my husband and I decided that we wanted to travel.  That Fall, we headed to Europewith a small group tour and stayed in a lovely old hotel.  There was no workout room, but there was a park nearby where I could walk, time permitting.  The next year, we were on a small sailboat touring the Greek Islands.  Again there was no workout out room and walking happened when we went ashore.  By 2004, I had decided that my solution was the stretchy band.  I could fold it up flat in my carry -on and use it anywhere, even on the plane.

Over the years, I have shared stretchy band exercises with clients, so that they could exercise quickly and easily while traveling.  I began to use the band at home when I could not get to the Pilates studio for my own session or to the gym. (Ice storm 2014)  I also began using the stretchy band when I had to sit for long period of times and could feel my joints “stiffen up.”

The stretchy band is the perfect tool because it can go everywhere, does not weigh anything and takes up virtually no room.  The stretchy band is an extremely versatile piece of equipment providing both resistance training and stretching assistance. With just a stretchy band and a small amount of space to stand you will be able to do this routine in 10 minutes.  The stretchy band routine mobilizes the spine and works all the major muscles groups in the lower and upper part of the body using Pilates Principles.

As I write this, I am finalizing “Stretchy Band on the Go” to share with you which will include a video of the routine along with a PDF document with a brief description.
